The 3rd Muay pro-am national championship was decided by president of the national federation of Muay Thai India to be conducted in Mumbai. After his visit to Mumbai the venue was finalized at our very own SAI center located in Kandivali East Mumbai. This was to be held from 5th till 9th of February and Bala Shetty along with Danish Shetty took the responsibility of conducting this event.
Best fighters from 12 states were invited to this event starting from Maharashtra, Mizoram, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Pondicherry, Karnataka, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. This turned out to be one of the biggest and best rated event in the history of Muay Thai India and was a success from participation to organization and some of the best witnessed fights amongst the best muay thai fighters of the country. The show stopper being the last day of the event.
This was undoubtedly one of the best observed event, all the credits going to the hard work and dedication of the organizers of the event Bala Shetty and Danish Shetty. Special thanks to Shree Ganesh Movie Lights who gave a real professional touch to the look and feel of the entire setup and made it look at par with any international event. The event was graced by presence of various bollywood celebrities including Kailash Kher, Sonal Sehgal, Naresh Kamath and Rajneesh Duggal. We were also honoured by presence of K. D. Kamble, Deputy CEO of Khadi and V.I. Commission of India.
The main event featured the final bouts for Gold medal and observed some of the best entertaining and thrilling fights. As fighters fought their hearts out, spectators enjoyed each and every moment of the fights. Even the celebrities and VIP guests were spellbound and stayed till the last of the fights. Team Maharashtra turned out as the best performers of the event as they bagged most medals with 6 Gold, 12 Silver and 5 Bronze medals. Andhra team coming out as the 2nd best performance with 8 medals in all, 5 of them being Gold. The final medal tally was:

On this event Bala Shetty was also felicitated by Grand Master and president of Muay Thai India Mr. M.H. Abid along with Danish Shetty president of Maharashtra Muay Thai association along with all the celebrities for his achievements and contributions towards the Nation and development promotion of the sport of Muay Thai. This also featured a tribute video for him.

Bala Shetty at the ONE Fighting Championship in Singapore – Part III (Fight Night)
Continued from my previous post on ONE FC 3 Weigh-ins…
The sun dawned on 31st March – the big day of the ONE Fighting Championship 3: War of the Lions. My friend Ira joined me for breakfast at Hotel Park Royal at Kitchener Road where I was put up. She was with Malaysian MMA fighter, Jian Kai Chee who was going to fight a local Singaporean MMA star, Eddie Ng in the ONE FC Main Card later in the evening. I conveyed my best wishes to him.
In the evening, I accompanied the entire team of fighters in a bus that took us to the ONE FC venue – Singapore Indoor Stadium. Every fighter was looking very confident and eager to fight. Continue reading →
